Things usually start out a little slow, and I wouldn't expect the club to really get on the road until some time down the track. Nothing to worry about though...perfectly normal. Hopefully, with a bit of patience we will have more members and in the end, a lot more submissions.
Sometimes I wish to have more space for a signature, then I'd be able to do more justice to a the club. I've no idea about getting a small competition mentioned on the front page and believe it's not possible to do so. However if you visit the forum section under the subcategory of contests, we may be able to get some attention there.
Check out this link, in particular the part on 'Contests Discussions':
thx for checking it out for us but i managed to find out.. you simply submit a news article... now all we need are members.. and an idea for a competition...
Wow...is it that easy? Certainly there must be some form of selection involved. They probably wouldn't post an article submitted to them unless it is really well-written and backed with a good deal of substance. When it comes to thinking of an idea for a competition, I wouldn't be the best one to ask, but perhaps we could think in terms of categories or themes. This can be as broad as:
Abstract/ Still Life
Portraiture
Street Photography
Candids
Nature
Or it can be more specialized:
Man and the Environment
Surreal, Humanity (as in recent or current competitions)
Line
Pattern
Silhouette
Energy of Life
Memories
Age
However the difficulty is finding a theme which most if not all members would be able to take part in. For example, I personally enjoy animal photography but others may not. Thus, a broader theme of 'Nature' (which can encompass anything from landscapes to animals and maybe even run-down rural scenes) might be more inviting than the theme of 'Wildlife'.
Devious Comments
ADVERTISE.
I'll put them in my next journal too.
